Project Management - 18th February 2008

Essentials for the Business Orientated Practitioner

10.00 for 10.30 to 4.00pm at One Whitehall Place, London SW1A 2HE.

Skilled Project Management is becoming more and more important for every HR professional.  This session is designed for those who wish to learn more about Project Management as an essential business tool for HR.

Business expects HR to lead all their projects in a way that is systematic and coordinated with other business developments.   Each HR project therefore needs not only a good business case, but must also be managed through a business-like process.  All projects are affected, whether they be large-scale change management programmes or more focused developments.

This is the first in the new Essentials Series of events whose aim is to extend practitioner knowledge and resources into areas that will enhance the credibility of HR as partners with the business.

The event is likely to be a key to the development of your team, or indeed anyone who would like to extend their range of expertiseIt will focus on a real world approach to setting up and running business oriented projects.  It will be suitable for practitioners who have or are likely to have project management responsibilities.  They may wish to enhance their current project skills, or be running their first project.  It will also inform those who take part in larger scale projects for which they take the specialist HR partner responsibility.

Participants will work through in stages from the start-up, how to plan and implement the project, the project environment and issues which may arise, through to the implications and effect of terminating the project.

Jon Robinson will be leading this session.  Jon has extensive management experience in many different organisations, and particular expertise in project management, management development, brand writing, workload management, research consultancy, and psychometric assessment.

Jon’s client list includes Boots plc, British Heart Foundation, BUPA, Cresta Holidays, East of England Ambulance Trust, Edinburgh Building Services, J Sainsbury plc, Lloyds TSB, Motorola, OCR, Pearson, Pinnacle-psg, Skills for Care, and a number of NHS Trusts and local authorities.
