People Related Measurement

Professor Andrew Mayo

December 11th 2008

There is much confusion about "HR metrics". And yet if people do have an important asset value we ought to be smarter at measures that have to do with people, and at how to make them meaningful and useful. This session will review:

  • How to make a classification of different kinds of measure

  • How to distinguish between

  • those measures which relate to groups of employees,

  • and those which relate to the HR function itself

  • How value is created in organisations, and the part people play

  • How to choose useful statistics and ratios

  • How to define measures and link them together

  • The value of people, their engagement and motivation, and the value they create

  • How to set up an HR Scorecard to monitor the performance of the HR function
