Research Briefing

What Customers want from HR – 27th January 2009

Dr Wendy Hirsh

Wendy Hirsh, who led the research briefing, recently co-authored the IES research study on ‘What Customers Think of HR’. This was based on in-depth work in a range of organisations talking to the customers of the HR function and conducting on-line surveys.  The briefing reviewed the findings from this study.

The briefing included:

•       What customers say about the role of HR – what the function is for
•       Feedback on HR services in specific areas of HR activity and how customers see these areas and their evolution
•       More general aspects of HR service – how the function behaves with its customers and the kind of relationship customers are looking for
•       Feedback on what is looked for in HR people and implications for the skills and development of HR professionals.
