Process Engineering

This session will look at Systems & Process Concepts for Improving Organisational Performance. The aim is to introduce a different way of thinking and analysing of businesses in order to be capable of effecting (radical) change to current business activities as a means of improving overall business performance.

There will be the review of a range of tools and techniques used to design and improve organisations.

The following topics will be included:

  • Systems Thinking
  • Difference between a process and a system
  • Metrics and measures: inputs, outputs, outcomes, and benefits
  • Techniques for process mapping
  • Creation of process templates; IDEF, UML, SSM;
  • Matching capacity & demand
  • A range of issues including queues, bottlenecks, constraints
  • Idealized Design
  • Benefits of process mapping
