Employment Demographics - Demography is Destiny
George Blair
What demographic information should be collected by the organisation? How significant will changes in the population, such as those to the age and gender profile, ethnicity and disability, become in the future?
Questions that this session will address:
What will the age profile of the West and other similar societies be like in twenty years time?
What are the implications of an aging society, i.e. recruitment; retaining older staff; pension funds
Should there be a close relationship between the demography (age, gender and ethnicity) of our workforce and our customers?
To what extent does the demography of our workforce match that of our customers?
What are the benefits of analysing where our staff live?
Are we sitting on demographic time-bomb with retirements just around the corner?
Where will we get our future staff from?
Where should we be located, in the UK or abroad?
Is class an outmoded classification?
How useful are marketing socio-economic classifications such as Mosaic?
What demographic statistics should the HR department produce, for whom and how often? How to make them interesting and relevant.
